Cloth Sanitary Pads - Day
Cloth Sanitary Pads Regular
Day cloth sanitary towels would be similar to your standard regular sanitary pad. With disposable sanitary pads containing the equivalent of up to 5 plastic carrier bags, there has never been a better time to switch to reusable cloth sanitary pads. Cloth sanitary pads are more breathable and less irritating, leaving you feeling fresher and more comfortable. Many women report that their cloth sanitary pads are actually much more absorbent than their disposable counterparts. Cloth sanitary pads are sometimes called CSP.
How do you wash cloth sanitary pads? Rinsing in cold water is the key to no stains. You can rinse under a tap until the water runs clear and then wash with your underwear in the washing machine. If this is not an option, you place the cloth sanitary pad in a mini wet bag until you get home, or you have time to rinse. You can then rinse in cold water by hand, or run a cold rinse cycle in the washing machine. For dried stains, you can soak in cold water first. Another way to eliminate the concern for staining, is to go for a dark coloured cloth sanitary pad like a bamboo charcoal one.
- Do a cold rinse either by hand or by washing machine, no detergent.
- Do a 40 degree wash with detergent and your other clothes.
- Don't use bleach.
- Don't use fabric softener and don't use detergents with added softeners.
- Line drying is best, and give the pads a little tug to reshape them.
How many cloth sanitary pads will I need? Really that depends on how long your cycle is, and how heavy your flow is. Most women find cloth sanitary pads are more absorbent than disposable ones, so you may need less cloth pads than you would expect.
