Night cloth sanitary pads are the eco friendly equivalent to a super plus disposable sanitary pad. With disposable sanitary pads containing the equivalent of up to 5 plastic carrier bags and they are processed with chlorine, there has never been a better time to switch to reusable cloth sanitary pads. Night time cloth sanitary pads and longer and more absorbent than the day time ones. Many women agree that night cloth sanitary pads are actually a lot more absorbent than disposable ones, so they are very well suited to those with a very heavy flow
. These cloth menstrual pads can also be used as postpartum pads. At such a delicate time, its important to feel as comforable as possible post birth. Cloth sanitary pads are often known as CSP.

 

How do you wash cloth sanitary pads? Rinsing your CSP in cold water is they most important step to avoiding stains. You can rinse under running cold water until the water runs clear. The CSP can then go into a wash with your underwear in the washing machine. If you are out and rinsing is not an option, you safely store the cloth sanitary pad in a mini wet bag until you get home. You can then rinse in cold water by hand, or run a cold rinse cycle in the washing machine. For dried in stains it is best to soak in cold water first. Another way to completely eliminate the possibility for staining, is to go for dark coloured cloth sanitary pads like a bamboo charcoal.

  • Do a cold rinse either by hand or by washing machine, no detergent. 
  • Do a 40 degree wash with detergent and your other clothes. 
  • Don't use bleach. 
  • Don't use fabric softener and don't use detergents with added softeners. 
  • Line drying is best, and give the pads a little tug to reshape them. 

How many cloth sanitary pads will I need? The quantity of pads required depends on how long your cycle is, and how heavy your flow is. A selection of the different sizes to account for the different days of your cycle. Most women find cloth sanitary pads are more absorbent than disposable pads, so you may need less CSP than you would expect.
